How to Store Lash Glue Properly & Keep It Fresh

Professional lash adhesive is one of the most important products on a lash artist’s trolley — but even a high-performance glue can become inconsistent if it is stored incorrectly.

Heat, moisture, air exposure and direct sunlight can all affect the condition of your adhesive over time. Proper lash glue storage helps keep the formula fresher, maintain a more consistent working texture and reduce unnecessary product waste.

Here’s how to store lash glue properly before, during and after opening.

Why Proper Lash Glue Storage Matters

Most professional eyelash extension adhesives are sensitive to their surrounding environment. Once the bottle is repeatedly exposed to air and moisture, the adhesive can gradually begin to change.

You may notice signs such as:

  • The glue becoming thicker than usual

  • Stringy or gummy consistency

  • A nozzle that clogs frequently

  • Slower or less predictable performance

  • Adhesive drops that do not remain fresh for as long

While application technique and room conditions also affect lash retention, proper storage gives your adhesive the best chance of performing as intended.

1. Keep Lash Glue in a Cool, Dry Place

Temperature is one of the biggest factors to consider when storing lash adhesive.

Avoid keeping your bottle beside a window, under direct lighting, inside a hot treatment room or anywhere exposed to significant temperature changes.

For LashLock professional adhesives, the recommended storage condition is a cool, dry environment of 25°C or below. The bottle should also be protected from direct sunlight, heat and moisture.

This is especially important for lash artists working in warm and humid climates such as Singapore.

2. Always Store the Bottle Upright

After every appointment, return your lash glue to an upright position.

Storing the bottle upright helps prevent adhesive from collecting around the nozzle and cap, which can make the bottle harder to seal properly.

A clean, tightly closed bottle also reduces unnecessary exposure to moisture in the surrounding air.

For LashLock adhesives, upright storage with the cap tightly sealed is specifically recommended.

3. Keep the Nozzle Clean

A clean nozzle is one of the simplest ways to extend the usable life of your lash glue.

After dispensing a drop:

  1. Keep the bottle upright.

  2. Remove any excess adhesive around the nozzle.

  3. Make sure the opening is clear.

  4. Replace the cap tightly.

Avoid allowing dried adhesive to build up around the nozzle. If the cap cannot close completely, more air and moisture may enter the bottle between appointments.

4. Minimise Air and Moisture Exposure

Professional lash adhesives cure when they react with moisture, so repeated exposure to humid air can gradually affect the product inside the bottle.

Try not to leave the cap open while preparing lashes or working on a client.

Dispense your adhesive, clean the nozzle and reseal the bottle as soon as possible.

For additional protection, many professional lash artists keep their adhesive bottle inside a sealed adhesive container when it is not being used. The goal is simple: keep the bottle away from excessive heat, humidity and unnecessary environmental exposure.

5. Do Not Store Lash Glue in Direct Sunlight

A treatment trolley next to a sunny window may look convenient, but it is not an ideal place for lash adhesive.

Sunlight can warm the bottle throughout the day, creating an unstable storage environment.

Instead, choose a shaded cabinet, drawer or dedicated adhesive storage area away from windows and heat-producing equipment.

6. Write the Opening Date on the Bottle

It is easy to forget when a bottle was first opened, especially in a busy lash studio.

A simple habit is to write the opening date directly on the bottle or add a small dated sticker.

LashLock adhesives have a stated shelf life of 6 months unopened and 3 months after opening when stored according to the product instructions.

Tracking the opening date helps you know when it is time to replace the bottle rather than relying only on appearance.

7. Avoid Keeping Too Many Bottles Open at Once

If you use several adhesives for different working speeds, try to keep only the bottles you genuinely need in active rotation.

Opening multiple bottles at the same time starts the post-opening shelf-life period for each one.

Instead, choose the adhesive that best matches your speed, environment and technique.

How Do You Know When Lash Glue Is No Longer Fresh?

Even when a bottle is still within its stated shelf life, pay attention to how the adhesive behaves.

Consider replacing it if you notice a major change in:

  • Viscosity

  • Drying behaviour

  • Consistency

  • Colour

  • Dispensing

  • Application performance

Always follow the product’s storage and shelf-life instructions rather than trying to revive adhesive that appears to have deteriorated.

A Simple Lash Glue Storage Routine

Good lash glue storage does not need to be complicated.

After each use:

Clean the nozzle → close the cap tightly → store the bottle upright → keep it somewhere cool, dry and shaded → track the opening date.

These small habits can help protect the condition of your adhesive and give you more consistent performance from appointment to appointment.
